1964-65 World's Fair

In 1962, as WED was busy preparing for the New York World's Fair and finishing the last developments on the Tiki Room, Coca Cola approached Disney. They were sponsoring the Hawaii Pavilion at the Fair and asked Walt if he could create a show for their pavilion. The result was "The Legends of the Enchanted Island". A sort of "plused" and much grander version of the Tiki Room. It took place in a 1000 seat theater and featured amazing special effects rivaling Fantasmic today. Marc Davis and Colin Campell did the concept artwork. However the attraction was never built. There are different theories on why this is but the most plausible is that Disney had created "It's A Small World" for Coca Cola rival Pepsi Cola. So the attraction never came into being. Perhaps one day this amazing show will be realized. For full story and detail on the show watch the video by clicking on the link below, courtesy of the Extinct Attractions Club.
